The best all-wheel drive sedan won’t be a cheap financial decision, but likely puts a focus on going faster. The expense to buy one is often worth it for a punchy turbocharged motor that expertly channels its horsepower to an all-wheel-drive system, making it easier to overlook the higher price. The addition of AWD usually increases the overall weight of the car, and in turn, the gas budget. Drivetrains that favor two wheels are typically more frugal in terms of efficiency. • Quicker acceleration in some variants - In certain cases, the energy being transferred to all wheels translates to better grip from launch.

Cons

• Heavier fuel figures - The additional mass from the system that’s needed for distribution to all four wheels means that the engine has more to carry around. It’s not as efficient in terms of economy.
• Typically more expensive - If you don’t need the all-weather capability, the higher price simply isn’t worth it unless you’re opting for a performance-oriented auto that benefits from the improved grip.
• Added heaviness - The all-wheel-drive adds quite a few additional pounds, and can sometimes feel heavy.
