Audi TTS Competition Plus Arrives With More Power

This new Audi TTS variant has as much power as the Golf R.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Audi Quattro all-wheel-drive system, Audi recently unveiled theAudi TT RS 40 Years of Quattro. Limited to just 40 examples, the commemorative TT RS will only be available in Germany. This isn't the only new TT sports car that will be forbidden fruit in the US, however, because Audi is also launching a new Competition Plus equipment line for theTTSboasting more power and new standard equipment.

Under the hood, Audi's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is uprated to 315 hp and 295 lb-ft, matching the horsepower of the newVolkswagen Golf R. This also makes the TTS Competition Plus considerably more powerful than America's TTS, which generates 288 hp and 280 lb-ft. This enables the coupe version to accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds, while the roadster will do the same sprint in 4.8 seconds. Both models are limited to a top speed of 155 mph and are equipped with a seven-speed S tronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system.

Standard equipment for the TTS Competition Plus includes LED headlights, wrapped Audi rings on the side sills, red brake calipers, and high-gloss black 20-inch wheels. The coupe version also comes with privacy glass, while the fixed rear wing and other exterior details are finished in dark colors. Available exterior colors include Chronos Gray, Glacier White, Tango Ted, and Turbo Blue.

Also joining the TTS Competition Plus is Audi's new Bronze Selection line. Available for the standard TT and TTS next spring, the package adds bronze elements to the seat trims, center console, and air vents, while copper contrast stitching adorns the seats. Available exterior colors include Chronos Gray, Glacier White, and Mythos Black complementing the bronze hue applied to the 20-inch wheels. The dual exhaust tips are also trimmed in chrome and the honeycomb grille is painted in gloss black for the TT and matte titanium black for the TTS.

In Germany, the TTS Competition Plus Coupe will cost around €61,000 ($72,472) and the Roadster will cost around €63,700 ($75,680), with deliveries starting early next year. The Bronze Selection package, on the other hand, will cost €6,190 ($7,354) for the TT and €4,490 ($5,334) for the TTS, with deliveries also starting in spring 2021.
