Only 40 examples are being made.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of thelegendary Audi Quattroall-wheel-drive system, Audi is unleashing a new special editionTT RScalled theAudi TT RS 40 Years of Quattro. Aptly, production will be limited to just 40 examples, so they will be a rare sight on the road. And just to make the commemorative TT RS even more exclusive, it will only be available in the German market. Sorry, America.

Now, we get to see the special edition in action, as a video posted by CarSpyMedia shows Audi putting the TT RS 40 Years of Quattro through its paces at the Nurburgring ahead of the car's market launch.

Curiously, the prototype in the video is finished in blue, yet the production version will only be available in Alpine White with retro decals applied to the hood, shoulders, roof, and rear inspired by the 1987 Audi Sport Quattro S1 driven to victory by Walter Rohrl at Pikes Peak. The wheels also appear to be different - five-spoke alloys instead of the white seven-spoke items fitted to the celebratory edition. Perhaps Audi is planning to launch another version outside of Germany; we're keeping our fingers crossed for a US variant, as part of the celebrations have already seen an美国IMSA-inspired Audi RS6 GTOunveiled.

Chances are Audi is performing some final tests for the car's custom aero kit that includes gloss black side flics in gloss black on the front apron, a front splitter, a fixed rear wing, spoiler side extensions, and a diffuser. White 20-inch alloy wheels are offered as standard and the front ventilated and perforated steel disc brakes feature red calipers.

基于range-topping TT RS,奥迪的新special-edition sports car is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 394 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. This enables the TT RS to hit 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds, while the top speed is increased to 174 mph.

Those that were lucky enough to secure one paid a hefty premium for its exclusivity, however, as the TT RS 40 Years of Quattro carries a price tag of €114,040 ($135,089) - twice as expensive as the standard TT RS which starts at $67,600 in the US.
