It's still pricier than hybrid versions of the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, though.
As one of the more rugged small SUVs around, theSubaru Crosstrekhas proved itself to be a popular choice in North America. For the 2021 model year, the Crosstrek got even better thanks to the introduction of amore powerful 2.5-liter enginethat is surprisingly efficient, too.
But if it's efficiency you're after, the Crosstrek Hybrid remains the model to go for. Subaru has just released pricing for the2021 Crosstrek Hybridand the good news is that despite various upgrades, the SUV will only cost you $200 more than the 2020 version.
The new price is $35,345 excluding a destination/delivery charge of $1,050. Only two pictures were shared of the 2021 Crosstrek Hybrid, but this is little surprise since the design hasn't changed dramatically and the cabin appears identical to the 2020 variant.
However, as this is a plug-in hybrid, the Crosstrek Hybrid can potentially cost even less as some states offer rebates of up to $1,500 and the SUV may qualify for a Federal Tax Credit of $4,502. That being said, the Crosstrek Hybrid remains far costlier than the base non-hybrid Crosstrek, and it starts at a higher price than some rivals like the丰田RAV4 Hybrid.
To partially cushion the blow of that initial outlay, Subaru has updated the Crosstrek Hybrid with a different front fascia, while the suspension has been tweaked for better handling, a smoother ride, and more responsive steering. As before, the plug-in hybrid can travel 17 miles in EV mode and returns an EPA-estimated 35 mpg/90 MPGe.
Subaru's secure all-wheel-drive system is standard, and the automaker has kept things simple with just one trim on offer. Among the changes underneath the skin are optimized dampers and coils, although the 2.0-liter Boxer four-cylinder engine with two electric motors remains unchanged.
For light off-road missions, the Crosstrek Hybrid offers a useful 8.7 inches of ground clearance, although the towing capacity is limited to 1,000 pounds. An available $2,500 package adds features like a power moonroof, navigation, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid will begin arriving at dealers this winter.
