的Ford Bronco R has been beaten for the second year in a row.

去年的巴哈对福特1000年是一个灾难。的Bronco Rrace truck was supposed to preview the off-roading prowess of the productionBroncobutfailed to completethe challenging off-road endurance race. Last year's Baja 1000 was also the competition debut of theGlickenhaus Bootinspired by Steve McQueen's, which, unlike the Bronco, successfully completed the race.

Ford hadbetter luck this yearand managed to complete the Baja 1000 in over 32 hours, but still couldn't beat its rival. For the second year in the row, the Glickenhaus Boot won the Baja 1000 in class 2, completing the off-road endurance race several hours faster than the Bronco. Behind the wheel was driver Elliot Pollock with his co-driver Tyler Thomas.

Glickenhaus aimed to complete the race cleanly with no mechanical issues and to run 44 percent faster than last year, but the unforgiving nature of the Baja 1000 means simply completing the race in one piece is an achievement. This year, only 112 out of the 185 competitors finished the race successfully.

During last year's race, the Boot, which is powered by a LT4 6.2-liter V8 producing up to 650 hp, kept bottoming out in the front and rear, damaging the rear shock mount. To fix this, the nose of the car was changed with a steeper approach angle and the front bumper was removed to prevent damaging the front. To save weight, the front winch, front fenders, and front bumper were also removed.

Within the first 30 miles of racing, the Boot gained a five-mile lead over the Bronco, but the race wasn't without incident. After 55 miles, the Boot clipped a rock, bending a rim and puncturing a tire. Later in the race, the Boot approached a 180-degree turn too fast and rolled over. The crash damaged the fenders, doors and roof, loosened a coolant fitting, and tore a small hole in the water pump, but the damage was minor overall.

Despite the crash, the Boot was able to continue and finished the race in 27 hours and 15 minutes - five hours faster than the Bronco R. The Boot placed 42nd overall, but Glickenhaus is already planning to improve the Boot for next year's race with the aim to finish in the top 20. Next year, Glickenhaus will race the two-door Boot and a racing version of the new 4-door Boot.
