有一个联合国fortunate reason why.

If you're in the market for a new2022 Subaru BRZand haven't already placed an order, then you may sadly be out of luck. To be clear, thesecond-generation sports carhas not been discontinued but there appears to be a supply chain problem. A member of theFT86 Clubforum posted a screenshot notification they received from their local dealer informing them that Subaru stopped taking orders for the car on January 13.

CarBuzzhas reached out to Subaru seeking confirmation and we'll update this space if we receive a relevant reply. But other sources are claiming the problem has to do with the supply chain. Like all automakers, Subaru has been struggling with critical components, specifically semiconductor chips, for months.

UPDATE: Subaru spokesperson Charles Ballard confirmed to us the following: "The Sold Order allotment was met but customers can go to a Subaru retailer to purchase a 2022 BRZ."

The BRZ is not exactly a limited edition model but it's also a niche vehicle, so it's entirely possible Subaru is redirecting attention and supplies to more in-demand and profitable models, like the Forester and Crosstrek. This is purely speculation on our part but it's not impossible. We've also reached out to Toyota because, as we all know, the BRZ andGR86are twins and built side-by-side at the same facility in Japan. Again, we'll provide updates whenever we get them.

If both the BRZ and GR86 have reached their respective production caps for the current model year that means hopeful buyers will only be able to select from stock already on dealer lots. This is by no means the end of the world, though it could be a challenge finding one or both.
