2024 Wrangler Interior

The interior of the Jeep Wrangler looks a lot more modern this year, thanks to a big new 12.3-inch touchscreen taking center stage on the dashboard, necessitating a slight restyle to accommodate it. The round air vents on either side of last year's small display options are gone and are now horizontal strip vents below the new display. The materials are workmanlike and solid, but not plush, and made to get wet. That's why it's taken Jeep this long to offer electrically adjustable seats on the Wrangler - it had to make sure the electrics survive doors-off river wading. The seating position is high up and commanding, and over-the-shoulder visibility is decent, although that spare wheel does obstruct your view through the rear window somewhat. Taking off the doors and roof and doors does remove all the blind spots, though. It's not all moonshine and roses inside the Wrangler, for interior space of the two-door is lacking in the rear, and the people relegated to the second row are jostled about on the move because they sit right on top of the rear wheels.

Seating and Interior Space

Officially, the two-door Jeep Wrangler seats four people, and although you might be able to squeeze a tiny person into the second row's center position, the bench is sculpted for two - and there are only two seatbelts. Life back there isn't very comfortable, even for two, because of the skimpy 35.7 inches of legroom, although the 40.3 inches of headroom is plentiful. To be fair, the two-door Bronco can only match the Wrangler's rear legroom. At least rear-seat air vents are standard. Things are far rosier up front, where 41.2 inches of legroom and 40.8 inches of headroom should suffice even for the tallest humans.

Things go far better in the rear of the four-door version, with an ample 38.3 inches of rear legroom and a more comfortable seating location within the wheelbase of the car. A third seatbelt is available in the rear. Heated seats are standard on the Rubicon X only, which also gets power front seats - eight-way for the driver and four-way for the passenger. Power seats aren't available on any other trim, but heated seats are optional on all but the Sport.

Interior Colors and Materials

There are very few interior colors for the Jeep Wrangler, with black dominating and being the only color for the seat upholstery in all the trims. The Sport, Sport S, Willys, and Sahara get a gray dash panel and yellow contrast stitching on the seats, while the two Rubicon trims get red seat stitching and a black dash panel, also with red stitching. Black cloth upholstery is applied to all trims but the Rubicon X, which gets black Nappa leather.

The Sport has a plain urethane steering wheel, while all the other trims get a leatherette-trimmed item. The hard top (standard on the Rubicon X and optional on the rest) has a cloth headliner. Only the Rubicon X's handbrake lever and shifter knob are leather-trimmed.

2024 Wrangler Trunk and Cargo Space

The two-door Jeep Wrangler's trunk space is a very limited 12.9 cu-ft with all the seats in use, which makes it unsuitable for four-up touring. Rear-seat comfort is so poor that you won't be doing it anyway, so rather fold the rear seats down to increase trunk volume to 31.7 cu-ft - now the car makes sense for all the luggage two people might carry with them off the beaten path. Trunk lift-over height is also substantial at around 30 inches on the base trims with the standard suspension and more on the others, but that goes with the territory if you want this kind of ground clearance.

Trunk space is far better in the four-door configurations, with the same 31.7 cu-ft available behind the second row as the two-door has with its rear seats folded. Fold the rear seats, and you get access to a 72.4-cu-ft space. There are too few spaces to store things in the cabin, but the doors do have nets in them instead of traditional door pockets.

The glovebox sits low down at the passenger's knees, but at least there is one. There are two front cupholders behind the shifter lever and a lidded storage compartment behind that, but although rear-seat passengers get front seatback net pockets and a small storage tray, they don't get cupholders or even a fold-down center armrest, despite there only being space for two back there.
