New Porsche Cayenne Coupe Gunning For The BMW X6

It was back in February when we got ourfirst look at the updated Porsche Cayenne, and now our spy photographers have caught its Coupe SUV sibling being put through its paces for the first time in the rain. Having launched for the 2020 model year, the stylishPorsche Cayenne Coupeis still relatively new, but Porsche is wasting no time applying a mid-cycle update.

Despite the camouflage covering the body, the prototype previews some of the design changes we can expect to see. Porsche has fitted the Cayenne Coupe with redesigned slimmer headlights and a new front bumper, giving the coupe-style SUV a sleeker look. It also looks more aggressive than the current model thanks to its more sculpted hood.

There don't appear to be any changes to the taillight design, but this could change as development continues. By contrast, the regular Cayenne prototype featured placeholder taillights and the license plate was also repositioned lower on the rear bumper.

Our spies were unable to get alook inside the cabin, but the regular Cayenne will be upgraded with a redesigned center console, and a new shifter lifted from the new 911, as well as new tech including a fully digital instrument cluster and a larger screen for the infotainment and navigation system. These changes should carry over to the Cayenne Coupe.

The current Cayenne Coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 producing 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, while the S variant utilizes a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 434 hp and 405 lb-ft. We aren't expecting any changes under the hood for the facelifted model.

Moving up the range, the more powerful Cayenne Coupe GTS and Turbo models utilize a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 453 hp/405 lb-ft and 541 hp/567 lb-ft respectively. Topping the range is the Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe with an electrified turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 generating 541 hp/567 lb-ft.

Porsche hasn't confirmed when the updated Cayenne will break cover, but the Cayenne Coupe facelift will most likely arrive later this year or early next year.
