Mad Max Prequel Coming In 2023

Bring on the mayhem.

Many modern movies rely on CGI, so it was refreshing to see 2015's 'Mad Max: Fury Road' go back to basics. While CGI was used toenhance some scenes, the car stunts were all done for real, withspectacular results. Essentially one long chase movie set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, 'Fury Road' was critically acclaimed and won six Academy Awards including Best Production Design for the film's incredible dystopian cars.

Since 'Fury Road' roared into theaters back in 2015, fans have been left wondering if there will ever be a new Mad Max movie. There have been rumors that a prequel focusing on Furiosa, one of the lead characters in Fury Road played by Charlize Theron, is in the works, but now it's official. Simply called 'Furiosa,' the new Mad Max movie will be directed by George Miller, who helmed the four previous films in the franchise.

Speaking with ABC News, Miller confirmed that 'Furiosa' will start production in the Australian outback this summer before it releases in theaters in mid-2023. Filming will primarily take place in Sydney and the remote town of Broken Hill. Partially funded by a federal government scheme, 'Furiosa' will be the biggest movie "ever made in New South Wales." It will also create 850 local jobs and bring at least $350 million into the state's economy.

情节细节稀缺:我们都知道,prequel will focus on Furiosa's origins before she teamed up with Mad Max in 'Fury Road.' Best known for her role in the Netflix drama 'The Queen's Gambit', Anya Taylor-Joy will play a younger Furiosa, replacing Charlize Feron. Chris Hemsworth will also star in the film.

"It's something I'm going to put my heart and soul into because it really is for me, out of everything I've done, the biggest pinch-myself moment because I've grown up watching it," said Hemsworth.

Gearheads will agree that the cars are the real stars in Mad Max movies. Thanks to its role as theV8 Interceptor Pursuit Special, Australia's Ford Falcon became a pop culture icon and one of the most iconic movie cars of all time. It was destroyed twice in 'Fury Road,' but we're hoping it will make a triumphant return in 'Furiosa.' Miller has confirmed the cars have already been built for the film's stunt scenes. 'Fury Road' featured some insane custom cars that were characters in their own right including aDodge Chargertank and a Dodge Fargo monster truck, so we can't wait to see what the vehicle designers have cooked up for 'Furiosa'.
