Ferrari SF90 Stradale Goes Wild At Bonneville Salt Flats

Ferrari plans to fill 2022 with celebrations for the brand as it marksits 75th anniversary, but 2021 was a pretty great 12 months for the Italian marque too. We saw the reveal of the astonishing newDaytona SP3, as well as that of theinnovative 296 GTB, but slightly older cars like theSF90 Stradaleare still a very important marketing tool for the brand. To that end, the hybrid supercar was recently taken to the Bonneville Salt Flats to be shot with a gorgeous background for the automaker to "pay tribute to the legendary speed records which have been set right there."

The video is a series of quick shots with a few lingering segments showing the car driving vigorously and occasionally even getting sideways enough for long, lurid, four-wheel drifts. It looks like a lot of fun, but Ferrari didn't do any high speed runs or attempt to break any records.

Essentially, this video is nothing more than an excuse to fool around and show off, and the SF90 does not disappoint. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 769 horsepower on its own, but a trio of electric motors raise total output to 986 hp. Thanks to AWD, 0-62 mph is possible in just 2.5 seconds, but we doubt that you'd match that on salt.

Interestingly, the white example that you see in this promotional video appears to be the same one used to set a new lap record for production carsat the Indianapolis Motor Speedwayroad course in July last year. Equipped with the Multimatic dampers, carbon fiber door panels, titanium exhaust system, and other upgrades of the $100,000 Assetto Fiorano package, it lapped the circuit in just 1 minute and 29.625 seconds, achieving a top speed of 174.6 mph. This makes it just three seconds slower than a Ferrari 488 race car on the same track, but in its 75th year, we're sure that the Prancing Horse will release something that makes even these cars seem incapable.
