The driver of the M8 Competition Gran Coupe does not have to be concerned that their car will be confused with the M850i. The aggressive front bumper with its large air intakes, the 20-inch M Star-spoke two-tone alloy wheels and non-run-flat tires, the standard M Carbon roof, quad tailpipes, signature M side gills on the fenders, and the rear spoiler will see to that. Furthermore, it comes with extended Shadowline exterior trim, even including black-out treatment for the grille, headlights, badging, mirrors, and rear apron. However, the grille comes with an illumination function to help it really pop amongst all this black. The M Carbon Exterior Package can be equipped to add carbon-fiber elements for the air curtain, front blade, rear spoiler, mirror caps, and tailpipe finishers.
Its aggressive countenance means the M8 is no shrinking violet and it's all the more intimidating for its size and proportions - the M8 Gran Coupe's dimensions include a length of 200.9 inches, a width of 84.1 inches with the mirrors, and a height of 55.9 inches, which all makes for a sizable car that is instantly noticed as it zooms into your rearview mirror. It weighs in at 4,480 pounds.

You can choose from any of 11 exterior colors for your BMW M8 Gran Coupe, of which six are no-cost options: Alpine White and five metallic colors, namely Black Sapphire, Marina Bay Blue, Isle of Man Green, Brooklyn Grey, and Skyscraper Grey. Three metallics will cost you $1,950 extra, and they are Dravit Grey, Aventurin Red, and Tanzanite Blue II. There are two $5,000 options as well, the existing Frozen Tanzanite Blue and Frozen Pure Grey. The standard blue brake calipers can be switched out for black or red items.
To most eyes, the M8 looks a little bland in the whites and grays, but Black Sapphire suits it quite well and compliments all the Shadowline finishes, giving it a dark, menacing air. We feel an extroverted car such as this is better painted Tanzanite Blue II or Aventurin Red - both $1,950 options. The Frozen Tanzanite Blue does look spectacular, but it will set you back $5,000.
Because it comes as standard with the M Carbon roof, the M8 Gran Coupe does not have a sunroof. Unlike some other M BMWs, you cannot get a normal steel roof with a sunroof fitted either, as this option is not offered on the M8 Competition Gran Coupe.
The diameter of the M8 Gran Coupe's alloy wheels is the same 20 inches as that of the M850i, but with a distinctive M Star-spoke two-tone design. Even if you want to stand out more, no larger wheel size is offered, even as an option, although a few different styles of 20-inch items can be specified at no extra cost.
