Ferrari SF90 LM Spider And Coupe Leaked Before Big Debut

Now this is a proper homage to Ferrari's Le Mans victory.

UPDATE: Ferrari has officially teased the SF90 LM with a reveal date of tomorrow, June 29. The teaser can be viewed at the bottom on this article.

TheFerrari SF90LM, also internally designated the Version Speciale, has leaked yet again, but this time also in Spider guise. These images provide us the clearest look at the front and rear of the car we've seen yet, and they appear to have been snapped at an exclusive preview event for the new model. The images were shared byVarryxon Instagram, but were likely snapped by one of Ferrari's most valued clients at the private preview.

This new model should not be confused with theupcoming LaFerrari replacement, the Italian brand's next halo product. Instead, the SF90 LM (for Le Mans) will be a more hardcore version of the SF90, a stupidly fast grand tourer (if a mid-engined 1,000-hp supercar can really be called a GT).

Ferrari will likely boost the power to over 1,000 horses and recalibrate the gearbox for more aggressive shifts. Still, there's no point speculating about power figures when we have a few other things to explore.

Looking at the cars side-by-side, you can see the SF90 LM's more aggressive aerodynamics package. The front has new air ducts below the headlights, most likely channeling air directly to the brakes. Those two air outlets on the hood appear to be perfectly placed to direct air to the car's rear, where we find what's technically known in the automotive business as a big-ass fixed rear wing.

Unlike the wing on the rear of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, this one doesn't appear active. We may be wrong because that wing alone can produce massive stopping power by flipping up and using wind resistance. Speaking of the rear, we can see new vents in the wheel arches, likely to eliminate hot air.

The rear diffuser is more prominent and appears to run the entire vehicle width instead of being split into two halves. Those two exhaust outlets protrude a lot more, and Ferrari ditched most of the painted panels in favor of what appears to be naked carbon fiber. There's also an LED light bar instead of the standard taillights.

Ferrari wassupposed to introducethis special edition of the SF90 at Le Mans earlier this month, though it may have changed its mind after the Prancing Horses qualified top. Ferrariwent on to win Le Mansfor the first time in 58 years, giving the Italian brand even more reason to delay the launch. Ferrari launched aLe Mans liveryfor select customers shortly after the race to celebrate its return after 50 years away.

The SF90 LM will be the real deal, however. It will likely be as close to the 499P as mere mortals will ever get, which leads us to a rather pertinent question.

The LaFerrari successor obviously has to be even better, so how much of a maniac will it be?

We're expecting a reveal in the next few days, so fans of the SF90, stay tuned.
