Porsche Taycan Outsells 911 and 718 Combined

In just the second quarter, Porsche deliveries rose 3.6% over 2020, as the brand didn't take as big a hit as others. It also noted that Taycan deliveries are up with help from new variants. More than3,000 of those EVs found new homesin Q2, more than the total of 911s and 718s combined.

The Panamera was up more than 45% as the new model arrived in dealerships. And the718 Boxster, which just celebrated its 25th birthday, and Cayman also doubled. Buyers are back, and they're buying the Porsches they missed out on last year.

Breaking down the models, Porsche moved almost 100 more 911s than last year's Q2. The total of 718s sold was 906, way past the 472 units it moved in 2020. Panamera, Cayenne and Macan all saw big jumps too. We've been reading about the two pandemic recoveries; Porsche buyers are obviously on the already-recovered side of the equation.
