2022 GMC Terrain Is More Expensive But Better Value

The2022 GMC Terraindebuted back in March withmore rugged styling, new standard equipment, and an upgraded interior. For the first time, theoff-road-focused AT4 trimis available for the Terrain, but the more powerful 2.0-liter turbo engine is no longer available.

Ahead of deliveries starting this summer in the US, GMC has announced pricing details for the 2022 GMC Terrain. Like the2022 Chevrolet Equinox, the entry-level trim has been removed from the lineup but other trims have received a price cut. This means the starting price for the Terrain has increased but the 2022 update offers better value overall.

Moving up the range, the 2022 Terrain SLT has a price tag of $33,095, which is $700 cheaper than last year, while the range-topping Denali will set you back $37,795, which is also $700 cheaper than last year's model and comes with AWD as standard. New for 2022, the off-road-focused AT4 costs $35,195 and also comes with standard AWD along with larger off-road tires, black exterior chrome trim, and a front steel skid plate. AWD is also available for the SLE and SLT trims for an extra $1,600.

For 2022, the exterior has been refreshed with a new grille and redesigned LED headlights and taillights. There's also new standard equipment, including Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the GMC Pro Safety suite, which includes a lane keep assist with lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator, and automatic high-beam assists.

A head-up display also comes as standard in the Denali trim and is available for the SLT and AT4 trims. With the 252-hp 2.0-liter turbo engine no longer available, a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque is the only engine option for the 2022 GMC Terrain, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
