2020 F-Type Coupe Interior

The Jag F-Type's interior is stylish and finished with plenty of leather and aluminum, but no number of impressive materials can hide just how small it is. If you're over six-foot, you'll fit relatively well, but you'll soon develop claustrophobia. Build quality appears good and the infotainment system has attractive graphics and more speakers than are arguably necessary, but again, this is offset by a finicky interface and average visibility. Overall, the interior of the car is almost as attractive as the outside, but here you need function as well as form, and much of that is missing in the F-Type.

Seating and Interior Space

The F-Type is a strict two-seater, with 12-way power-adjustable seats as standard. These are suitable for six-footers, but still do not offer the kind of space that would make such an individual exceptionally comfortable on longer journeys. Fortunately, the seats allow you to sit low and finding the right position isn't too much trouble. Visibility out the front is fairly decent, but the blind spots are completely impossible to view while the rear window is little more than a peephole. Getting in and out is also a little tricky for taller folk, this stemming from that low ride height and short roof. The doors are also items that you can't forget about in car parks.

Interior Colors and Materials

The standard upholstery that greets you when you open the door of the base F-Type is grained leather with faux suede inserts. This comes in either Ebony or Cirrus, but you can opt for full Ebony or Cirrus Windsor leather for $1,635. Various other upholstery options are available too, and include Ebony leather with Pimento contrast stitching, or the same leather with Siena Tan stitching. You can also get Brogue Windsor leather with Ivory stitching, Pimento and Ebony leather, and Ivory and Pimento leather, with each of these options adding $3,270. The interior trim accents come finished in Delta aluminum as standard, or you can get knurled aluminum at no cost, while carbon fiber is a $765 option. In the Checkered Flag models, Windsor leather is standard and red seatbelts are thrown in for free too, but the only color choice for leather is Ebony and trim options are restricted from this model.

2020 F-Type Coupe Trunk and Cargo Space

The F-Type is a sports car. Sports cars are not great haulers in general, but this one probably takes the cake. On paper everything sounds impressive, with a trunk area of 14.4 cubic feet, but when you open that tiny rear hatch and discover how shallow and narrow the space is, you'll soon be disappointed. At best, two perfectly-shaped carry-on cases may fit back there.

In the cabin, things are not much better, with slim door pockets only capable of carrying a thin wallet or a small bunch of keys. The center armrest has a little more space along with the glovebox, but neither are particularly big. At least you get cupholders.

2020 F-Type Coupe Infotainment and Features

Features

The Jag F-Type is due to be reinvented for 2021, but for now, you get a decent number of standard and available features. These include a rearview camera with front and rear parking sensors, an adaptive speed limiter with traffic sign recognition, remote access, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, a drowsy driver alert, brake assist, and single-zone climate control. You also get a five-inch driver info display and rain-sensing wipers as standard. Optionally available are features like a switchable active exhaust, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, auto high beams, ambient lighting, adaptive suspension, park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and heated auto-dimming mirrors.

Infotainment

For the 2020 year model, the F-Type finally comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, features that join SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth audio streaming, USB connectivity, and HD Radio. The system is accessed through a ten-inch touchscreen display and features navigation as standard, along with a ten-speaker Meridian sound system. In such a small space, that many speakers ought to be more than enough, but if you really want to drown out the wail of the engine, a 12-speaker upgrade with a pair of subwoofers adds richer aural pleasure. Overall, this InControl system now has all the right ingredients, but the final product is let down by a laggy and confusing interface.
