Does 325 horsepower get your pulse going?

The current iteration of theFord Fusionmay not resonate with enthusiasts, but the automaker looks to change that with the updated 2017 Ford Fusion. The new sedan has just been revealed at the Detroit Auto Show and includes a host of new design changes and a new performance-oriented version as well. The Fusion Sport model generates 325 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque and puts its power down through an all-wheel-drive system. Yeah, that sounds a lot better than the current Fusion.

The potent Sport model has a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 that's matched to a specially tuned six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle isn't all show and no go, however, and comes with a continuously controlled damping suspension, 19-inch wheels, blacked-out mesh grille, dual-twin exhaust ports and a rear spoiler. In addition to the Sport model, the Fusion lineup also gets a Platinum trim, which comes with more technology and safety, along with a hybrid model. Ford executive vice president and chief technical officer Raj Nair believes the new Fusion has the edge over other sedans. "Fusion offers people a lot more car-including helpful technology, beautiful design and a more rewarding driving experience than other midsize sedans," stated Nair.

In addition to the Sport model, the Fusion lineup also gets a Platinum trim, which comes with more technology and safety, along with a hybrid model. The Fusion hybrid and plug-in hybrid (Energi) get software updates for improved efficiency. The Fusion lineup also receives Sync 3, pedestrian detection, an improved cruise control system and an enhanced parking feature. The Fusion starts at $22,995, the Sport starts at $34,350, while the Platinum comes in at $37,495.
