Now you can go off-roading in the lap of luxury.

Luxury vehicle manufacturers seem to have a bit of a thing for yachts. If you want to evoke a sense of instant opulence and extravagance, simply say that your latest model or special edition has been inspired by luxury yachts and you'll have a winner on your hands. For instance,Bentley has done itwith its Continental GT, and Lamborghini went so far as to buildan actual yacht.

Carlex Design has jumped on the same bandwagon and just unveiled theLand Rover DefenderYachting Edition, based on the all-new Defender. No matter what it's called, the Defender Yachting Edition definitely looks the business with its silver, hand-brushed body.

Engraved on the spare wheel cover is the flower-of-the-winds motif, something we saw before on the equally grandMercedes-AMG G63 Yachting Limited Editionrevealed by Carlex earlier this year. Back to the Defender, though. On the hood, the Carlex name replaces the "Defender" wording of the stock model.

Inside, it has received a comprehensive makeover with sumptuous brown and cream-colored trim. Buyers can opt for either cream upholstery with wooden decor or caramel upholstery with lighter inlays. Mimicking the exterior are the brushed silver elements. A new wooden floor and a modified steering wheel design with its own wooden cover are further changes.

The trunk area and rear seatbacks have also received a deck-like wood finish which does look pretty cool. As this upgrade is all about aesthetics and opulence, Carlex Design hasn't touched on the mechanicals at all, but the standard Defender comes with either a 296-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four or a 395-hp 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo with mild-hybrid tech.

Of course, four-wheel-drive is standard and Land Rover's Terrain Response System takes the hard work out of off-roading. With the special touches from Carlex, the Defender is just as capable but also luxurious enough to take on the Germans.
