2025 Volkswagen Tiguan

We don't know what the price of the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan will be just yet. In the USA, the current Tiguan starts at $28,505, so the new one is likely to start at close to $30k when it gets here. A fully loaded version potentially equipped with the plug-in hybrid powertrain could increase to about $45k.

At $29,500, the Honda CR-V will be one of the Tiguan's key rivals in this market. The CR-V is also available as a hybrid, and a fully loaded model goes up to $39,500.

We can't tell you exactly what the exterior of the new Volkswagen Tiguan crossover will look like since it's related to the both the upcoming Tayron as well as the Euro-spec Tiguan you see here.

Europe's Tiguan has new, flattened LED headlights that flow into a horizontal strip with LED lighting. The radiator grille openings are now positioned on the front bumper's outer sides, where there are air curtains to optimally direct the flow of air. These changes have lowered the drag coefficient from 0.33 to 0.28. IQ.Light HD matrix headlights will be available, and these contain 19,200 multipixel LEDs per headlight unit to dramatically improve illumination.

The straightforward side view features new wheel designs measuring up to 20 inches in size. From this angle, North America's version will differ since its body will be longer. At the back, there is a new horizontal LED strip, and the Tiguan branding stretches across the bottom of the tailgate.

The Volkswagen Tiguan's available colors have been quite conservative through the years, with shades like Pure White and Platinum Gray, but this Euro version has a more vibrant orange that we hope comes to the USA.

Europe's Tiguan has grown marginally, so we can expect the dimensions of the US-spec Volkswagen Tiguan to also increase. However, as our version hasn't been revealed, we can look to the existing model for an idea of its size.

The Tiguan available here has a 109.9-inch wheelbase and 186.1-inch body length. Its width is 72.4 inches without the mirrors, and the height is 66.5 inches. In terms of curb weight, the current Tiguan can weigh up to 3,821 pounds, but the new PHEV will likely be closer to 4,300 lbs.

The engine lineup for the US-spec Volkswagen Tiguan is unconfirmed, but Europe's Tiguan is coming with a diverse range of powertrains, including turbodiesels, turbocharged gas engines, mild hybrids, and a plug-in hybrid known as an eHybrid. The eHybrid will be offered with a dual-clutch automatic transmission, and we hope to see this powertrain make it to the USA. America's other engine option will likely be an upgraded version of the turbocharged four-cylinder mill that currently makes 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque.

The existing Tiguan in this market needs nine seconds or so to complete the 0-60 mph sprint - an uncompetitive time, even in a segment where performance isn't a priority. Previous reports suggest that the new Tiguan PHEV will make 268 hp, and these variants should be far quicker.

All US-bound Tiguans are expected to be automatics, and standard front-wheel drive will be supplemented by optional all-wheel-drive derivatives.

Europe's Tiguan is based on the MQB evo platform and will be available with the new adaptive chassis control DCC and optional DCC Pro with two-valve shock absorbers. It also has a Vehicle Dynamics Manager that debuted on the Golf GTI. This system manages the electronic differential locks, ultimately making for more precise, stable handling. These are some of the systems we could see on America's Tiguan.

Europe's smaller Tiguan will have a range of about 62 miles on electric power alone, so a possible PHEV variant in America would have an impressive range, even taking into account more conservative EPA ratings. DC fast charging will be possible, but VW hasn't divulged charging rates or battery specs. Faster AC charging will also be introduced for eHybrid models.

As for non-hybrid models, we may see an improvement over the current Tiguan FWD model's 27 mpg combined.

The current Volkswagen Tiguan's interior is solid but a bit bland. Fortunately, the new one is far more high-tech inside, but the fear was always that it would be a step back in usability, as has been the case with some other new VWs. Europe's Tiguan has a 15-inch infotainment screen and a new Digital Cockpit ahead of the driver. OLED display technology and a new menu structure have been introduced. There is a new gear selector mounted close to the steering wheel.

Crucially, VW has found some solutions for making the interior easier to use. While climate control settings are still embedded in the touchscreen, a new rotary dial with its own small screen has been incorporated to control things like the radio volume, interior lighting colors, and driving profile. Alternatively, many functions can be controlled via voice.

There have also been changes to the Volkswagen Tiguan's seats. There are new ergoActive Plus seats with pneumatic four-way lumbar support and a pneumatic ten-chamber pressure massage function. Seat heating and ventilation can also be set to automatically activate based on the outside temperature. Whether all of these functions carry over to the US-spec Tiguan remains to be seen, but it's likely. We like the use of sporty red ambient lighting and some colorful flourishes on the door panels and dashboard that endow this new model with more personality.

Many driver-assistance systems will also be available for the Tiguan, including lane change assist, dynamic road sign display, and optional systems like remote parking.

新Volkswage货舱n Tiguan has increased marginally for the European model, so we expect the same for the one bound for our shores. Currently, there is 33 cubic feet of space behind the second row of the larger Tiguan sold here, so it's already a highly practical vehicle.
