The technology powering the PS5's DualSense controller will be a game-changer.

The next generation of gaming is almost here, with the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles launching in the US next week bringing high fidelity graphics and gameplay innovations. Racing game fans will have to wait until next year at the earliest to playGran Turismo 7on PS5 andForza Motorsporton Xbox Series X, as neither console's flagship racing title has a release date yet. Instead, DiRT 5 will be the only new racing title launching for both consoles.

Developed by Codemasters' Cheshire studio, DiRT 5 takes the series back to its arcade racing roots for a more accessible take on rally racing in contrast to the hardcore DiRT Rally series. Ahead of the game's launch on November 12, Codemasters has released the first gameplay video of DiRT 5 running on PlayStation 5.

Running at 4K resolution and 60 frames-per-second, DiRT 5's vibrant visuals are a feast for the eyes, with detailed cars, atmospheric environments, and realistic mud effects. If you have a TV that supports even higher frame rates, the game can run at a super-smooth 120fps, making the driving more responsive. As gorgeous as the graphics are, the technology powering the PlayStation 5's new DualSense controller will be a game-changer.

As Technical Director on DIRT 5, David Springate demonstrates, the controller's adaptive triggers and haptic feedback help make the game more immersive. For example, the level of resistance in the triggers used for accelerating and braking will vary depending on the surface you're driving on.

"That makes it feel very much like no other racing game," Springate explains. "It allows us as you're driving around to feel the world how we want you to feel it."

You'll get to race some rugged off-road racers in DiRT 5, from iconic 1980s and 1990s rally cars, to rally GT cars like theBMW M2Competition,Ford MustangGT4, and SUVs including the racing game debut of theAston Martin DBX.

DiRT 5 is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. In the US, the game will be available for Xbox Series X & S on November 10, and PlayStation 5 on November 12, followed by other regions on November 19.
