2023 Toyota Tundra Exterior and Dimensions

One probably can't describe the new Toyota Tundra as pretty, but it certainly isn't a wallflower either. It's tall, wide, and blocky, and the detailing of its exterior amplifies this impression. The frontal view is dominated by a huge grille bracketed by comparatively small headlight clusters. Depending on the trim level, the grille can vary from plain black with a black surround on a base model to a honeycomb design with a body-color surround at the top end, but that grille always remains the center of attention.

The side view is less distinctive due to the generic truck form factor, with various overfender and trim-piece options to set the different trims apart, with the SR trim standing out because it doesn't feature overfenders. The wide variety of Tundra models are externally differentiated by their overfenders, which could be body color or matte black, depending on the trim level, with the color of the exterior decor pieces on the lower window line, different front bumper designs, and a wide selection of wheel designs in sizes from 18 to 20 inches also setting the different trims apart.

The rear view has some interesting creases, folds, and bulges, accentuated by big recessed TUNDRA lettering. To save weight, the load bed is made of aluminum-reinforced composite material, which also makes it more scratch- and dent-resistant.

The 2023 Toyota Tundra comes in various overall lengths, depending on the specified cabin and load bed. The extremes are represented by the short-bed Double Cab at 223.6 inches bumper-to-bumper, going up to 252.5 inches for the long-bed Double Cab. The long-bed CrewMax is slightly shorter than the longest model in spite of its longer cabin, but that's because this cabin style is restricted to the 6.5-ft bed. They are all 80.2 inches wide, except for the TRD Pro, which stands at 81.6 inches thanks to its wheel arch flares. Overall height is a maximum of 78 inches, while there is at between 8.5 and 9.4 inches of ground clearance available, depending on the trim.

The approach and departure angles of the normal models are 21 and 24 degrees, respectively, but the TRD Pro's are significantly better with values of 26.2 and 24.2 degrees.

Even the lightest SR 4x2 Double Cab with the 6.5-foot bed weighs in at 5,095 pounds, while the heaviest non-hybrid is the Platinum CrewMax 4x4 with the 6.5-foot bed at 5,800 pounds. The hybrids are even heavier; the Capstone 4x4 CrewMax with the 5.5-foot bed weighs 6,185 pounds.
