2024 Nissan Z Nismo: What We Know So Far

As the new pinnacle of the Z sports car heritage, anew Nissan Z Nismo coupe is on its way到USA. Based on the seventh-generation Z-car from the Japanese automaker, the Nismo is expected to dial up the performance and fun in a number of metrics, hopefully elevating it above the high standard set by rivals like theToyota GR Supraand new Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Based on the RZ34 generation, the platform underpinning the Z Nismo is effectively the same FM platform that once underpinned the 350Z and 370Z, albeit with updates along the way to keep it fresh. Bringing turbo power, new suspension, brakes, and more style to the mix, the Nismo is geared to be the distilled essence of Nissan's sports car development in a compact, two-seater package.

When is the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Coming out?

Nissan's first and only teaser left little to the imagination, suggesting an imminent reveal. While the release date hasn't been fully confirmed, the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo will come out later this year after a full reveal this summer.

What’s the Price of the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo?

Like most details at this stage, pricing is kept under wraps. The price of the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo is expected to be a chunk higher than the baseNissan Z, which has an MSRP of $53,990 in its top Proto Spec guise. We're expecting upwards of $60,000 for the Nismo variant, and that's before dealer markups push that figure up further. That's still within an acceptable realm, however, as the GR Supra A91 MT limited-edition trim starts at $59,445 for the 2023 model year, and next year's45th Anniversary Editionshould crest $60k.

New Nissan Z Nismo Exterior and Colors

The Z Nismo's exterior gets pretty significant tweaks to separate it from lesser trims. Up front, a new bumper design has a wider grille with black detailing, while a new front splitter is finished in red. Obligatory Nismo badging features, too.

There are more changes down the flanks, where not only are there widened fenders, red detailing on the mirrors, blacked-out window surrounds, and a new side skirt design with red detailing, but a new set of black nine-spoke wheels wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires. Within these, red brake calipers are standard.

The biggest change at the rear of the car is a three-piece ducktail spoiler more prominent than the standard item, a new rear bumper design with a larger diffuser, and red detailing. Centrally-located Nismo badging makes it stand out, but the dual tailpipes are carried over from the regular variant.

Colors for the Nissan Z Nismo have not yet been detailed. However, the teaser shows the 2024 Z Nismo in what appears to be Stealth Gray, a Nismo-exclusive colorused on the 2024 Nissan GT-R Nismo. The only no-cost color is expected to be Black Diamond Pearl, but it will be joined by Brilliant Silver, Passion Red Tricoat, and Everest White Pearl Tricoat, all with a black roof.

Nissan Z Nismo Dimensions

We don't expect a massive overhaul of the dimensions for the Nissan Z Nismo compared to standard versions. Things like the 100.4-inch wheelbase and 172.4-inch length are unlikely to change, although the latter may see a slight variance with the new front bumper design. The width of the Z Nismo may change slightly from the base car's 72.6 inches, if only because of the wider arch extensions to accommodate what is likely a wider track than the 61.2 inches front and 61.6 inches rear on the Performance trim.

We expect some semblance of weight savings for the Nismo but don't expect anything lighter than the 3,486 lbs of the current lightest configuration, primarily due to the weight of extra mechanicals like a limited-slip differential.

Nissan Z Nismo Engine and Performance

The engine of the Nissan Z Nismo will be the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 (VR30DDTT) from the standard models. Final specs and power outputs have not been confirmed, but previous Nismo variants received a bump of around 20 horsepower, so we expect at least that much extra over the current 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive and a limited-slip diff will be standard fare.

Rumors suggest the Z Nismo will only be available with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, ditching the six-speed manual on lesser models. However, this is unconfirmed.

With more power, the auto-equipped variant should be capable of 0-60 mph in approximately four seconds flat.

Changes will be made to the suspension, and we expect slightly lower ride height, upgraded dampers, stronger brakes, and perhaps retuned programming for the steering and differential.

Gas Mileage/Range, Charging, Battery Life

Anyone buying a Nissan Z Nismo for its fuel economy is seriously misguided, but the EPA-estimated figures from the standard Z should be a good guideline. Unless there's a massive bump in power, we expect a similar 19/28/22 mpg city/highway/combined from the automatic-equipped variant. This is currently one of themost fuel-efficient sports carson sale in the US.

Nissan Z Nismo Interior and Cargo

The Nissan Z Nismo seats two in cozy confines, but with that Nismo suffix, they're perched on Recaro sport buckets exclusive to this model with Nismo embroidery on the headrests. We've seen a red and black leather/Alcantara combination for the upholstery, but other options may be available. The steering wheel has been recovered, now featuring a red 12 o'clock marker and Alcantara hand grips, and the digital gauge cluster reveals new graphics specifically for the Nismo variant.

There appear to be no other changes here, and you still retain the triple cluster of gauges atop the dash and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Practical aspects like the 6.9 cubic foot trunk remain unchanged.
