2020 Infiniti QX60 Review: Big Flash For Little Cash

by Michael Butler

Driving a flashy SUV has become a serious benchmark in the world of social rankings and offers almost as many status points as a Rolex watch or a mansion in the hills - but what if you want the flash, but can't afford the real deal? We would like to introduce the 2020 Infiniti QX60, a mid-size luxury crossover that won't break the bank, but offers a good amount of standard features, enough power to get you around, and intensive looks that border between flashy and family. The interior isn't as premium as, say, aBMW X5, and it's not as entertaining to drive as anAudi Q7, but it's still a comfortable and capable machine that won't break the bank. Starting at $44,350, it undercuts the Audi Q7 by more than $10,000, and you can be assured that your next-door neighbor will be convinced that you've made it once you roll up in this thing.

New 2020 Infiniti QX60 Changes:What’s The Difference vs The 2019 QX60?

The new year brings with it only a few minor changes: base model cars are now offered with standard blind-spot monitoring, and the current car still benefits from the improvements made to the V6 engine back in 2017. Despite the added driver assistance tech, the asking price remains the same for 2020.

Pros and Cons

  • It's seriously comfortable
  • Good levels of tech
  • Low road noise
  • Rear seats are easily accessible
  • All the good stuff is left to the options list
  • This ain't no off-roader
  • Adults will find third-row space tight
  • It gets pricey

Handling and Driving Impressions

QX60处理和驱动器big luxurious SUV to drive: turn into a corner, and the Infiniti leans outward and doesn't seem too eager to cling onto any sort of racing line. Turn-in isn't as sharp as the Audi Q7, which, for its size, handles surprisingly well, and manages to feel almost car-like in its responses. Where the QX60 truly shires is over bumpy roads, where it soaks up low-speed bumps with ease. Head onto the highway, and things are just as good; road imperfections are gobbled up, and at cruising speed, the combination of a well-enclosed cabin and cushioned suspension setup provide a relaxing driving experience. Out on city streets, the steering is light enough to complete tight maneuvers without having to work your forearms, and at speed, it weighs up nicely, but forget about any steering feedback.

Verdict:Is The the2020 Infiniti QX60 A Good car?

2020年QX60是一个中间派提供来回m Infiniti that offers reserved yet handsome exterior styling, a good amount of interior and cargo space, and its 3.5-liter V6 offers good performance. The European styling of the QX60 will attract a lot of US buyers who don't want a ton of attention drawn, and we get it - it's the perfect suburban sleeper SUV. Inside, the QX60 doesn't offer the most exciting design, and some of the materials feel subpar, especially when compared to the Audi Q7, but it offers most of the amenities we consider to be necessities on modern cars. Out on the road, the QX60 offers a confident and well-dampened ride, but isn't as dynamically exciting to drive as some of its rivals. The 2020 Infiniti QX60, then, is a perfectly sensible choice for perfectly sensible people who want a bit of premium luxury, but don't want to fork out the money for a more expensive German offering.

What Infiniti QX60 Model Should I Buy?

The new Infiniti QX60 is available in two trims and two drivetrain configurations, so there aren't a million trims to choose from. The base model starts at $44,350, and you'll add $2,000 to that price to get it in AWD guise. For less than $2,000 more than the entry-spec pricing, you can get a Luxe model in FWD guise, which is our pick of the bunch. That extra $1,800 will bag you a set of roof rails and a rear bumper protector on the outside, while the cabin gets a heated steering wheel and driver's seat two-way power lumbar support. There's also a stack of additional tech features that come standard on the Luxe model: you get remote engine start, wing mirrors with reverse tilt-down feature, an entry and exit assist system for the driver's seat and steering wheel, as well as an intelligent key memory system. Audiophiles will be pleased to hear that Luxe models come equipped with a Bose 13-speaker premium sound system.

2020 Infiniti QX60 vs Audi Q7

Audi's Q7 has become one of the class-leaders in the mid-size luxury crossover SUV market in the USA, and those who're interested in buying one will be even more keen now that the German has received a pretty major facelift, inside and out. Unlike the other cars being compared here, the Audi Q7 is the only car that features turbocharged engines. The Premium 45 and Premium Plus are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and are assisted by a mild hybrid system for a total output of 248 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed auto transmission. Q7 55 TFSI quattro models are powered by a more serious turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Gas mileage on the 3.0-liter Q7 is 17/21/18 mpg city/highway/combined, obviously not as impressive as the QX60's estimates. Still, the Q7 feels far superior on the road and offers a more dynamic driving experience. Its interior is far better in terms of design and refinement, too. The Q7 is the more premium product but comes at a price. If you're willing to pay ten to twenty grand extra, be our guest.

2020 Infiniti QX60 vs Acura MDX

The Acura MDX (despite its name sounding like some sort of designer drug) sits on an equal playing field as the QX60, and both share a lot of similarities. For starters, the 2020 Acura MDX is powered by a similar 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine, which in the Acura delivers 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, slightly off the Infiniti's numbers. Power is sent to the front, or all four wheels, via a nine-speed auto trans. The EPA rates the MDX's fuel economy at 19/25/21 mpg city/highway/combined for the AWD A-Spec model, increasing to 20/27/23 mpg for FWD models - just a fraction behind the QX60. The exterior of the MDX is arguably more modern looking, but step inside the cabin, and you'll be hard-pressed to tell which interior design looks the most dated. What the Acura does offer are slightly better quality interior materials. Interior space is on par with the QX60, but the MDX offers a lot more cargo space, especially behind the front seats. On the road, the MDX is perfectly capable, but, as with the QX60, doesn't deliver the most enthralling driving experience. The MDX is closely priced to the QX60, so the winner in this competition will boil down to personal choice. However, we'd recommend the Acura.
