2023 Civic Type R Safety

Cars that are this much fun to drive should also be safe enough to hoon in, and while the Type R doesn't have a specific rating from either authority, the IIHS did rate the regular Civic on which it's based high enough to award it a Top Safety Pick+ award for 2022. With only a partial review for the Type R from the NHTSA (five stars in rollover tests), the base hatchback's five-star overall rating is a good indication of how safe the hot hatch is.

2023 Civic Type R Reliability

The last recall for the Type R was in 2021 for the 2020 model (applicable to the previous-generation model), where some vehicles were recalled for a fuel pump that may fail. The Civic lineup has been free from recalls in the years that followed. While J.D. Power hasn't yet released a rating for the Honda Civic Type R's reliability, we're pretty certain the high scores from the outgoing generation will carry over, if not improve.

Warranty cover for the 2023 Honda Civic Type R spans three years or 36,000 miles, includes powertrain coverage for five years or 60,000 miles, but doesn't come with any scheduled maintenance.
