The exterior of the Dodge Hornet has restyled front and rear ends to differentiate it from the Alfa Romeo Tonale on which it's based, but the two are very similar in profile and share a glasshouse. The mail-slot grille is typically Dodge though, as is the unique hood with its aggressive integrated heat extractors. The lower air intake is big and flanked by additional vent slots. The rear is far more similar to the Alfa and Dodge could perhaps have made a few more changes here. Other than the simpler taillight clusters, both cars have a full-width light bar and what looks to be the same rear bumper.
Automatic LED headlights, LED taillights, a body-color rear roof spoiler, and rear privacy glass are standard, and the GT trims ride on 17-inch alloy wheels. The Plus trims get a standard sunroof and power liftgate. An optional Blacktop package blacks out the exterior trim and adds black 18-inch Abyss wheels, while the optional Track Pack comes with black 20-inch Abyss wheels with red brake calipers. R/T trims have standard Graphite Grey 18-inch alloy wheels, Brembo performance front brakes with red calipers, and dual chrome-tipped exhaust outlets.
The exterior dimensions of the Dodge Hornet show that it is slightly larger in size than the Mazda CX-30, but smaller than the Honda CR-V. Overall length is 178 inches, while its width is 72.5 inches without the mirrors and 82 inches with them. It rides on a 103.8-inch wheelbase. The GTs have a height of 63.8 inches and the R/Ts are a bit lower at 63 inches. Ground clearance is a decent eight inches on the GTs, but only 6.1 inches on the lower-riding R/Ts. The same curb weight of 3,715 pounds is quoted for both GT trims, while the R/T trims are significantly heavier at 4,140 lbs.

You can choose from a selection of seven exterior colors for the Dodge Hornet, regardless of trim. The only two no-cost colors are Q Ball (white) and 8 Ball (black). Gray Cray, Blu Bayou, and Hot Tamale (red) cost $495 extra, while Blue Steele and Acapulco Gold cost $595 extra.
The stealthy extra-cost $595 Blue Steele suits the Hornet particularly well, which is perhaps why most of the initial press photos were rendered in this hue.
The most expensive colors are Blue Steele and Acapulco Gold; both cost $595.
Only the GT Plus and R/T Plus trims come with a standard tilting/sliding power sunroof.
Both GT trims run on gray 17-inch alloy wheels, while R/Ts run on Graphite Grey 18-inch Abyss alloy wheels. Black 18-inch alloys accompany the Blacktop package, while black 20-inch Abyss wheels are fitted when the Track Pack is specified.
