Kid Rock's Low-Mileage Ford GT Is A $500,000 Beauty

A mainstream manufacturer it may be, but Ford's history is littered with performance icons. Many may think of theMustangas the consummate Blue Oval performance car, but fans of the brand will be quick to point out the existence of theGT. The latest model, dramatic and astonishing it may be, failed to excite fans as much as the original rehashing of the iconic GT40 racer.

First seen in 2004, the working-class hero took the fight to Ferrari, muchas it did in the '60s, challenging the established supercar makers with a 5.4-liter supercharged V8. While exotic rivals were experimenting with dual-clutch gearboxes, Ford decided to lend the GT plenty of driver appeal. As such, the 550-horsepower engine sent its ferocious power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

With approximately 4,038 examples ever made, the GT is every bit as desirable today as it was back then. So, when one comes up for auction, car collectors across the world sit up and pay attention.

This particular example has an extra layer of richness to its history. Owned from new by singer Kid Rock, this Mark IV Red example, replete with white stripes, has covered a mere 3,096 miles over its 17-year lifespan. While nowhere near aslow as this Porsche Carrera GTof a similar vintage, this isn't the first time we've spotted a celebrity supercar with incredibly low mileage. Previously, Post Malone's Bugatti Chironsold with just 583 mileson the clock.

Aside from the highly desirable color combo, this retro-styled automotive seductress comes with several cherished options, including the forged aluminum BBS wheels, red-painted brake calipers, and an upgraded sound system, with a subwoofer. Inside, the GT presents as new. In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to tell that this isn't a recent design. The dashboard and cabin embellishments have aged very well, the age betrayed only by the outdated McIntosh CD player and minimal wear on the steering wheel badge.
