Here's Your First Proper Look At The New Batmobile

The Caped Crusader's new Batmobile looks like a retro muscle car.

Batman is back. After last year'stantalyzing teaser trailer, the first full-length trailer forThe Batmanreboot dropped during the DC FanDome event, and it doesn't disappoint. Directed by Matt Reeves,The Batmanstars Robert Pattinson as a broodier, more unhinged version of the Caped Crusader. From the trailer, this is shaping up to be the darkest and grittiest Batman movie yet. Set at an earlier point of Bruce Wayne's crime-fighting vigilante career, the film will see Batman face the Riddler as Gotham City descends into utter chaos.

一个s we've seen in publicity photos, the new Batmobile is a radical departure from the tank-like Tumbler Batman drove in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy. Instead, the new Batmobilelooks like a retro muscle car, combining design cues from theFord Mustangand Dodge Charger.

It certainly looks less conspicuous than the Tumbler, allowing the vigilante superhero to keep a low profile. Once again, we get a brief look at the Batmobile's rear-mounted jet propulsion system spitting out blue flames in a nod to theBatmobile driven by Michael Keatonin the 1989Batmanfilm.

Towards the end of the trailer, Batman uses the Batmobile to hunt down Penguin played by Colin Farrell in a white-knuckle car chase scene. When Penguin thinks he has shaken Batman, the Batmobile dramatically jumps through an explosion and rams into Penguin's car, flipping it over.

Originally,The Batmanwas supposed to release in theaters in June 2021, but the pandemic delayed its release until March 4, 2022.
