The 2021 Cadillac CT4-V 4-door is proof that the US still loves a fast sedan, and this first-generation model certainly delivers the goods. Sure it might be down on power compared to the ATS-V or the new CT4-V Blackwing, but it still offers plenty of go thanks to a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gas engine producing 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The idea behind the CT4-V sedan has never been to deliver absolute performance but to offer a sporty driving experience similar to that of competitors such as theAudi S3andMercedes-AMG CLA35, both of which have more hardcore siblings. The good news is that you get a balanced chassis, more than enough oomph, and some impressive tech. Is the CT4-V good enough to steal sales away from its German competitors? Let's find out.

Forget about massively powerful Cadillac sedans. If you're after that sort of performance, go take a look at the Blackwing range of cars. The 2021 Cadillac CT4-V is more of an entry-level luxury sedan with a focus on sporty driving. As a performance car, the CT4-V sedan truly shines. Its Camaro-based chassis and excellent suspension and steering feel make it a true contender against Germany's hot sedans, the Audi S3 and Mercedes-AMG CLA 35. As a luxury vehicle, this Caddy unfortunately can't stick with the Europeans in terms of build quality and overall reliability, although its infotainment system is rather good. Its cramped interior is also disappointing, considering its large overall size, and there isn't an official NHTSA or IIHS safety review of the 2021 Cadillac CT4-V. Nevertheless, it gets a fair number of driver assists, and it drives exceptionally well. We don't see why it shouldn't sell by the thousands.
To retain the magnificent Magnetic ride control and limited-slip differential, we'd suggest sticking with the tail-happy RWD model. We'd get our CT4-V in Black Raven. We'd include the Driver Assistance Package for an additional $900. This package adds features such as adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and reverse automatic braking. In order to select that package, you're also required to go for either the cold weather package or the climate package, and you'll also have to choose between the Super Cruise or Driver Awareness Plus Package. We'd go for the cheaper cold weather package, which adds heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, and the Driver Awareness Plus Package.
