As the 90 Spyder moniker implies, the project build is based on the smaller Defender 90 with aroofless layout. The roof is removable and can be stowed in the "elegantly designed" cowl. The firm also claims the cargo space is equivalent to the factory Defender 90.

However, the second-row seats have been removed for a two-seater configuration, reminiscent of older generations of the nameplate and other rivals like theJeep Wrangler.

According to Flying Huntsman, each example, featuring lightweight NS3 grade aluminum, will be hand-built under a six-month build process. That's quite a long time, but the firm is no stranger to the off-roader havingbuilt a 6x6 versionwith a 430-horsepower 6.2-liter GM-sourced LS3 V8. Other Defender projects include the Longnose and Homage II.

As for the 90 Spyder, the firm hasn't disclosed the specs, including engine details. The Defender does come with a wide array of engine options from the factory, so let's hope the few discerning buyers get to choose the powertrain that suits their driving style. We say few because only eight examples will be produced per year.
