Italian luxury coachbuilder Ares Modena is back with another bespoke Defender convertible.

TheLand Rover Defendermay have an appealing offroader formula that works, but that does not mean there is no room for some enhancements. Ares Modena took on a classic Defender and turned it into a cabriolet, championing a fun off-road, open-air driving experience.

Dubbed Ares Defender Cabrio, the Italian luxury coachbuilder shared a few photos on Instagram, showcasing the vehicle's rugged and muscular appearance. But other than that, the company has not disclosed many details about the reworked off-roader.

Design-wise, this particular Ares Defender Cabrio example has a more straightforward finish, unlike earlier commissions. While others get luxurious and bright color combinations, the latest release is painted in black with hints of military green, complementing the vehicle's off-road nature.

Further boosting the rugged appeal are the blacked-out Ares design alloy wheels wrapped in Cooper Discoverer off-road tires. It also has a spare wheel on the hood, which is not seen in the hardtop version.

If the vehicle is completely based on thehardtop Ares Defender, this cabriolet should come with a 5.3-liter V8 engine, producing 380 horsepower and 382 lb-ft of torque. The power unit is connected to a 4WD with three lockable differentials via a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The cabin appears to have a five-seater configuration, with the seats finished in green. Like the hardtop, the cabriolet could also be equipped with an infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Options could include heated seats and an electric winch.

Since the hardtop Ares Defender is sold for €235,000 (or around $250,000), the Ares Defender Cabrio could be priced a little more as convertible counterparts are usually more expensive. But if you fancy the latest, more modern Defender,Heritage Customs offersa drop-top Defender 90 for around $90,600.

The company alsocommissions coachworks for supercars, in case you are not a big fan of offroaders.
