2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid

Mitsubishi will launch its all-new Outlander PHEV for the US market in the second half of 2022 as a 2023 model. It'll go on sale in Japan about a year before that, meaning we expect to see it in production form relatively soon. However, we know it'll look nearly identical inside and out to the current Outlander, itself a heavily reskinned Nissan Rogue.

The new three-row Outlander has been experiencing monthly sales gains this year and the arrival of the plug-in hybrid version should lure in additional buyers. Mitsubishi has not disclosed the new SUV's powertrain details, but we wouldn't be surprised to see it retain the current model's 2.4-liter gasoline engine and rear axle-mounted 70 kW electric motor. Both were new for the 2021 model year.
