2023 F-150 Raptor Safety

No F-150 Raptor safety review has been conducted by either the NHTSA or IIHS, but its plain-Jane sibling, the F-150, managed to score a full five stars from the NHTSA. The 2023 F-150 received a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS and a full range of Good crashworthiness scores. We believe that the F-150 Raptor should be slightly safer thanks to its advanced suspension system and brakes.

2023 F-150 Raptor Key Safety Features

It might not have a crash safety record from the NHTSA, but the Ford F-150 Raptor truck comes with all the modern safety tech you'd expect to find in a performance truck. Basics include AdvanceTrac stability and traction control, along with a suite of airbags that includes front driver and passenger, side curtains, and front seat-mounted airbags. Standard driver aids encompass a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert and trailer coverage, a lane-keeping system with driver alert, automatic high beams, pedestrian detection, post-collision braking, and rear parking sensors.

You also don't need to pay extra for a 360-degree camera system, trailer backup assist, an integrated trailer brake controller, trailer reverse guidance, or rain-sensing wipers. Many of these were previously options.

2023 F-150 Raptor Reliability

The Raptor was an all-new model for 2021 in the USA, but fortunately, there were no recalls for the 2023 model at the time of writing. However, the 2022 F-150 family has suffered eight recalls thus far. Certain F-150 vehicles have been recalled for a faulty windshield wiper motor, parking lights that could flicker, improper airbag deployment, wheel lug nuts that weren't correctly tightened, a wiring issue with the power-adjustable steering columns, a software error on the trailer brake control system, and for a damaged driveshaft that could fracture. 2021 F-150s were recalled 14 times, so the pickup has clearly not been without its issues.

Ford will cover the F-150 Raptor with a three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. A five-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance plan is also included.
