The BMW Z4 Roadster's local safety ratings have not been established by the NHTSA or IIHS because these agencies don't perform crash tests on such low-volume sports cars. Nevertheless, it should be very safe thanks to its litany of active and passive safety features.
NHTSA safety ratings are not available at this time.
The BMW Z4 Roadster isn't overendowed with safety features, but the most important ones are fitted; these include six airbags, a backup camera, tire-pressure monitoring, ABS, and stability control. Driver assists include adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic LED headlights with auto high beams, rain-sensing wipers, and an auto-dimming feature for the interior and driver's rearview mirrors. Features such as a head-up display, semi-autonomous parking, and adaptive LED headlights are only available via packages. The $700 Driving Assistance Package is also available for both trims and comes with active blind-spot monitoring, an active driving assistant that includes pedestrian detection, as well as lane-departure warning and parking sensors front and rear.

There are no recent reliability ratings for the BMW Z4 Roadster and the last model that was evaluated by JD Power was the 2020 Z4, which achieved a mediocre 75 out of 100 for quality and reliability. Hopefully, matters have improved somewhat since. At least recalls seem to be few and far between, with only one registered for the 2022 and 2023 models, both for the same issue of windows that may close even without the key nearby, presenting an injury hazard to occupants. The BMW Z4 Roadster's limited warranty is valid for four years/50,000 miles, there is a 12-year rust-perforation warranty, and three years/36,000 miles of complimentary maintenance is included.
The Z4 hasn't been officially crash tested, but it has six airbags, a modern design, and various driver assists, so it should be very safe.
The Z4 Roadster has six airbags. The driver and passenger get a front, side, and knee airbag each.
