There's Bad News About The Cadillac CT4-V And CT5-V Blackwing

It was hard not to be disappointed by theCadillac CT4-VandCT5-V. The outgoingCadillac CTS-Vwas a 640-horsepower super sedan, so expectations for the CT4-V and CT5-V were very high. To everyone's surprise, Cadillac packed both cars with a 360-hp twin-turbo V6, which seemed like a massive step backward. Thankfully, Cadillac is cooking up hotter versions of the CT4-V and CT5-V that will reportedly use the Blackwing moniker.

Prepare yourself for another disappointment, however, because Muscle Cars and Trucks reports that both the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and CT4-V Blackwing have been delayed as part of General Motors' revised product plan in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

According to the publication, the launch of the 2021 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and 2021 CT5-V Blackwing has been delayed by at least six months. Both models will utilize GM's A2 rear-wheel-drive based architecture, which will replace the previous Alpha platform that underpinned the Cadillac ATS-V and CTS-V. Powering the CT4-Blackwing will be a 3.6-liter twin-turbo LF4 V6, which produced 464 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque in the ATS-V. The more powerful CT5-V, on the other hand, will utilize a 6.2-liter LT4 V8 - the same unit found in the outgoing C7 Corvette Z06 and CTS-V.

While this unit produced 640 hp in the Z06, it's expected to increase to around 670 hp in the CT5-V. Enthusiasts who enjoy rowing their own gears will also be happy to know that the CT4-V and CT5-V will be offered with a six-speed manual transmission, but we suspect there will also be an automatic option.
