Yet another recall plagues the Blue Oval.

Ford is recalling nearly 383,000 SUVs for a safety issue concerning the rearview camera.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there's a chance the video output may fail, preventing the camera image from displaying.

一个ccording to documents related to the recall, Ford says customers have filed a total of 2,115 warranty reports regarding the camera issue and notes that 17 "minor accidents" have allegedly occurred due to the problem. No injuries are tied to the recall.

Only vehicles with the 360-degree camera are affected. Units equipped with the regular rearview camera do not form part of the recall. The majority of the affected batch is the Explorer (279,700), followed by the Aviator (72,699) and Corsair (30,360).

Notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 20, 2023, directing owners to bring their vehicles to a dealership for examination. Dealers will update the image processing module (IPMB) software at no cost to the owner. The number for this recall is 23S02.

The Blue Oval suffered themost recalls of any automaker in 2022, with a total of 65 recalls affecting 8.6 million vehicles in the USA.

In May of last year, the Dearborn-based brand recalled 252,936 examples of the Explorer. A potential issue with the driveshafts/half shaftscould lead to the SUV rolling awaywhile the park gear is engaged.

In November, 550,000 examples of the best-selling F-150 were recalled in North America due to a probleminvolving a defective wiper motor. A similar issue affected Navigator and Expedition models, withproblematic windshield wipersincreasing the risk of poor visibility in bad weather.

These examples are just one of the many recalls that plagued the automaker last year. Hopefully, Ford can rectify the situation in the coming years. CEO Jim Farley has said he's aware of it and istaking action against the recalls and quality issues.
