The first piece of interesting news is that all Ioniq 5 buyers will receive unlimited 30-minute charging sessions for two years on Electrify America's growing network of ultra-fast chargers. By the end of this year, Electrify America aims to have around 800 charging stations nationwide with over 3,500 fast-chargers in operation.

With 350-kWh, 800-volt multi-charging, Hyundai says the hatchback will go from a 10 to an 80 percent charge in 18 minutes, beating comparatively equipped versions of theVW ID.4(36 minutes),Ford Mustang Mach-E(45 minutes), and Tesla Model Y (30 minutes).

Expect around 300 miles of range with the 77.4-kWh battery pack on Long-Range RWD models (this drops to 270 miles for the AWD version). Owners will get 63 miles of driving in just 5 minutes of fast charging. The Ioniq 5's Level 2 home charging system is also 50 percent more powerful than what comes with the Kona EV.

一个total of 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque is available in the Long Range AWD trim and it has a 0-62 mph time of 5.2 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 115 mph. Hyundai classifies the Ioniq 5 hatchback as a sub-compact crossover aimed specifically at young couples and new families. They'll find plenty of passenger and cargo space with a total of 133.7 cubic feet, surpassing the Mach-E's 130.8 cu. ft. and the ID.4's 130.2 even though the Hyundai's overall exterior dimensions are slightly less than both rivals.

Perhaps one of the Ioniq 5's best new features is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) which provides 120V of electricity inside and outside the car thanks to bidirectional charging. This means owners can charge things like refrigerators, TVs, laptops by using the car as a power source. Handheld electronics can be used inside as well.

The Ioniq 5 can further be used as a literal "wallet on wheels" thanks to the upcoming in-car credit card payment system. By using the infotainment screen, owners can pay for a number of products, like food and drinks, and find and pay for EV charging and parking.
