Designed to look like a piece of high-class furniture, the interior mirrors the sharp angles and straight lines of the exterior. The interior colors the Rivian R1T Adventure trim offers are varied, with five different color combinations available. Black Mountain is standard, and it's a mostly black interior with black vegan leather upholstery, but Ash Wood interior trim can be added at no extra cost. The $2,000 Ocean Coast option changes the upholstery to light gray, a color that is also applied on the center console, door panels, and dashboard, with the rest of the interior remaining black - and offering you a choice between black or Ash Wood trim, again at no extra charge. The last color combination is a deep Forest Green with Warm Ash Wood, also a $2,000 option. The headliner is made of 100% recycled microfiber.

In terms of cargo space, the Rivian R1T offers tons of solutions thanks to its skateboard EV platform. The bed itself is rather small for this class, measuring only 51.1 inches wide and 54.1 inches long, but that's not nearly the only place you can stow stuff. The frunk is big at 11.1 cubic feet and the Gear Tunnel compartment between the cab and bed can swallow an additional 11.7 cu-ft of cargo, so you have nearly 23 cubes of secure, lockable trunk volume, even without a bed cover. Under the bed floor, a big cargo compartment can be used for either a full-size spare wheel or a drinks cooler box. Said bed will accept a maximum payload of 1,764 pounds.

The default Adventure trim is well-equipped with features such as a panoramic glass roof, leatherette upholstery, heated and ventilated power front seats, a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, and four 120V power outlets. The entire Rivian Driver+ driver-assistance suite is standard, complete with semi-autonomous driving functions and the full gamut of blind-spot, cross-traffic, and lane systems included, as well as a 360-degree camera. The second row gets its own 6.8-inch HVAC control touchscreen. One negative is the lack of a sunshade for the glass roof. The glass is tinted, but you cannot block it out completely.

The 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 15.6-inch center touchscreen are impressive to look at, but the system can be a bit laggy and, because so many functions have been relegated to the touchscreen, it's difficult to perform simple operations while driving on bumpy roads or off-roading. Functionality is decent, with six USB ports, Alexa voice commands, Bluetooth, navigation, and LTE Wi-Fi capabilities included, but smartphone mirroring is not part of the package, and none of the USB ports are media ports; they are charging ports only. The 1,200W Meridian Elevation audio system has 19 speakers, including a subwoofer, with a removable Bluetooth speaker stored under the center console's cupholders.
