Lexus offers the LS 500h as a premium, fully-specified car with just one powertrain and trim. Powering the flagship sedan is a 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V6 engine that's been augmented with two electric motors for a combined power output of 354 hp. Power is managed by a multi-stage hybrid transmission incorporating a CVT and four-speed automatic and goes to the LS 500h's all-wheel drivetrain. There are steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a drive mode selector with Sport S+, Custom, and EV modes, and an adaptive variable air suspension with a rapid height function to add to the 500h's driving experience, but the powertrain itself prevents any real level of excitement.
Premium triple-beam LED headlights, a power moonroof, and 20-inch split-ten-spoke chrome-finished alloy wheels define the exterior of the LS 500h. Enter the cabin via the remote access system and you're presented with an array of premium features including a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen tethered to a seven-inch touch controller and a 23-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound audio system. Along with an extensive list of comforts and conveniences, Lexus also includes its Safety System+ 2.5 suite of driver aids which comprises intelligent high-beam assist, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane tracing assist, lane-departure alert with steering assist, road sign assist, all-speed dynamic radar cruise control, a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, and a panoramic-view monitor. The 500h also comes with Lexus Teammate Advanced Drive capability.
