2023 M8 Coupe Safety

Large luxury German grand tourers tend to avoid being crash tested, and for that reason, no NHTSA or IIHS crash test ratings exist for this model, but BMWs tend to score well in most tests, and it would be reasonable to assume that the M8 is a safe car.

2023 M8 Coupe Key Safety Features

The M8 comes with one of the most generous selections of safety equipment found on any BMW. The usual traction and stability controls systems are in place, but you also have the best chance of spotting hazards at night thanks to the Icon Adaptive LED headlights with Laserlight. These headlights also have automatic high beams. Dual front, dual front side, and curtain airbags are standard as well.

As part of the Active Guard suite, the M8 has lane departure warning, frontal collision warning, and automatic collision mitigation and braking. Fatigue and Focus Alert, a rearview camera, and BMW Assist eCall are also included.

For just $100, the Driving Assistance Package is a no-brainer. It includes the Active Driving Assistant, parking assistance, active blind-spot detection, active park distance control with sensors in both bumpers, and a surround-view camera with 3D view. The Driving Assistance Professional Package includes camera/radar-based cruise control which can adapt to the surroundings, plus an extended traffic jam assistant.

2023 M8 Coupe Reliability

Despite this being quite a complex vehicle, the reliability of the BMW M8 appears fairly sound if the last few years are anything to go by. Both the 2023 and 2022 models have had no recalls, but the 2021 model had recalls for a reverse camera fault and a possible loss of braking assistance and ABS.

BMW will cover the M8 with a four-year/50,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty and a four-year/ unlimited mileage roadside assistance program. The brand's three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance will also apply.
