2023 Audi A7 Sportback Safety and Reliability

Safety reviews for the Audi A7 are superb, with the IIHS awarding top scores of 'Good' for all evaluations barring headlights, and resulting in a Top Safety Pick+ award for 2022. The NHTSA didn't conduct a comprehensive review of the A7, but scored it full marks for side crash tests.

The A7 lineup comes well-stocked with both traditional and driver-assist features in terms of safety. All models come with a ten-airbag system inclusive of dual-front, front-side, front-knee, curtain, and rear-side airbags, the latter standard from this year on all trims. Safety features on the Premium are inclusive of a rearview camera, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, cruise control, automatic high beams, front and rear parking sensors, and lane-departure warning. The Premium Plus gets upgraded with the addition of a top-view camera, rear cross-traffic alert by means of Audi pre sense rear, Audi side assist, and adaptive cruise control with turn assist and traffic-jam assist. The Prestige is fully loaded with a head-up display, remote park assist, and traffic-sign recognition.

The 2023 Audi A7 hasn't been subject to any recalls at the time of writing, but 2022 models were recalled twice for a control module shutdown that can reduce engine power and an inoperative rearview camera display. Still, this is an improvement on the seven recalls listed for 2021 models, with the same issues from 2022 cropping up here, along with fuel gauge inaccuracies, a potentially misaligned rear axle, a seatbelt locking retractor malfunction, weak rear axle lock nuts, and passenger airbags that may deploy incorrectly.

If reliability is a concern, the A7 comes with a four-year or 50,000-mile basic warranty and a drivetrain warranty that is valid for the same period.
