Watch Ford Mustang Mach 1 In Action For First Time

The Mach 1 is powered by the same 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine as found in the Mustang GT, but in this guise produces 20 hp more at a redline of 7,500 rpm. What makes the Mach 1 more special is the fact that it sees the addition of the Shelby GT350 Mustang's higher-flowing intake manifold, oil cooler, and oil filter adapter. The Shelby GT350's six-speed manual transmission has also been borrowed but now comes with automatic rev-matching, but a ten-speed automatic will also be available.

As we can see in the video, the Mach 1 sports a unique front end that features a new two-piece upper grille, a redesigned lower grille, and new side grilles. These aerodynamic improvements give the new car 22 percent more downforce over the GT with the additional Performance Pack Level 1. The new track toy will be offered with many factory improvements includingShelby GT500aerodynamic parts. The current sixth-generation Mustang is nearing the end of its life cycle, and the Mach 1 should prove to be the perfect sendoff.
