Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road Spotted For The First Time

When Toyotaunveiled the next-generation Tacomaearlier this year, the automaker championed mainly the top-spec variants, the TRD Pro and thefirst-ever Trailhunter, omitting the TRD Off-Road that will likely make up the bulk of orders at your nearest Toyota dealer.

The Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road has now been spied on for the first time, thanks to the lovely folks from theTacoma4G forum. According to userKraygz,who posted the shots, the 2024 model has black wheel arches, scene lighting, a sunroof, and an exterior painted in Solar Octane. It is a common design philosophy for off-road vehicles to favor black instead of chrome, hence the truck's predominant use of black trims from the front to the back.

While other variants like theflagship TRD Procome with the heritage "TOYOTA" script on the grille, the TRD Off-Road goes for the brand's standard logo.

As an off-road-ready truck, the TRD Off-Road variant is equipped with monotube Bilstein remote reservoir shocks for extended wheel travel and better heat dissipation, including an end stop control valve (ESCV) for an increased damping force. Further bolstering its off-road persona are the Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select (MTS), and an electronic locking rear differential.

Two powertrains are available in the TRD Off-Road - a non-hybrid 2.4-liter turbocharged engine and a new i-Force Max setup consisting of a 2.4-liter engine and a 48-volt electric motor.
