Tuning /3 Comments

Hello horsepower, goodbye tires.

TheBMW M5 CSis perfect. Full stop. Sure, it's bleeding expensive at $142,000, but that sum gives you access to a clever switchable AWD system that can still light the rear rubber with ease. The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 produces a whopping 627 horsepower, allowing you to reach 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, while the theater of the four bucket seats, yellow DRLs, and gold-bronze accents are worth their weight in, er, gold. It真正是一个特殊的超级跑车在一套西装, but somehow, there are those in the world who are not satisfied and have decided to upgrade the car's ability.Tuning company G-Poweris the latest, and the results are wild. Various tuning packages are on offer, starting with the GP-700 that unlocks a total of 690 hp and boosting twist to 627 lb-ft of torque (up from 553 as standard). Opt for the GP-740 package and you get a GP Deeptone exhaust system and 730 horses with 664 lb-ft. Next on the list is the GP-780 package which further adds sports downpipes and gives you access to 769 hp and 701 lb-ft. You'd think that this would be more than enough - rival tunerManhart stopped at 777 hp- but with some hardware upgrades, the GP-820 kit will produce 809 hp and 737 lb-ft while the upgraded turbos and aforementioned exhaust upgrades offered with the GP-900 can give you a monstrous 887 hp and 774 lb-ft. No acceleration or top speed claims have been made, but there are some cosmetic upgrades on offer.

Forged Hurricane RS or Hurricane RR wheels are available in 21-inch sizing (20s are also offered for the latter double-spoke design) as are 100-millimeter tailpipes in a choice of regular or forged carbon fiber. A GP-Ventury vented carbon hood can be fitted too, along with a GP-Dynamic rear wing, but these are aimed more at the regular M5 owner than the one that got a CS. As you can imagine, no tuning package for such an exclusive machine will be cheap. The base, software-only GP-700 setup will cost over $2,800 while the GP-820 upgrade will set you back almost $27,000. The top-tier GP-900 package is not listed on the tuner's configurator, but don't be surprised if this costs over $30,000. Ouch.
