Tesla Cybertruck Interior Video Reveals New UI And Huge Glass Roof

Video /11 Comments

It's one of our best looks at the electric pickup's interior yet.

A new video of theTesla Cybertruckhas popped up online, giving us a look at its new infotainment graphics plus other interior features like the panoramic glass roof, oddly shaped cupholders, and steering wheel. Piecing together shreds of information about the Cybertruck is all we can do since Tesla has remained tight-lipped about specifics, while official images of the electric pickup have yet to be released.

The center screen's user interface is the most interesting aspect of the online video, as it's clear Tesla has changed the software for the Cybertruck. We can see new icon designs and a visual fade that separates information on either side of the screen. Early in the clip, we can see various camera views of the truck's surroundings before the user swipes to a navigation view on the right side of the screen.

The icon tray is now on the left side of the screen, while the gear selector is found on the top left, just as in models like the latestModel 3. We don't know yet if the Cybertruck will have the sameemergency backup gear selectoras the Model 3, but one will doubtless exist somewhere in the cabin.

Software aside, we can see a few other design elements, like the steering wheel, which has flat upper and lower sections. Much like the exterior, the interior trades soft curves for an angular design theme, as on the front/rear cupholders. The panoramic glass roof is enormous, which we appreciate since the initial images of the Cybertruck's cabin showed it to be rather dark and somber.

There is an extendable sun visor for the driver, but it doesn't appear to house a mirror. Finally, we can see two large wireless charging pads ahead of the cupholders. This model has black upholstery with contrast piping.

As with other Teslas, we don't expect a wide range of customization choices. Nothing about the interior looks especially plush, but Tesla has never been a leader for luxurious cabins anyway.

What may be more concerning for truck owners is the visuallysmall bed seen on a pre-production Cybertrucklast week. The bed does come with some smart and practical light strips on the sidewalls, though, and since this is more a lifestyle truck than a true hauler, perhaps the bed's small size won't be a dealbreaker. A Cybertruck sighting at SpaceX's StarBase in Texas is the only other new piece of information we have about the pickup.

While the first Tesla Cybertruck has officially been produced, customerswill have to wait until 2024when mass production - finally, hopefully, maybe - begins. In the meantime, rivals will be happy to take advantage of the Cybertruck's extraordinarily long gestation period. One of them is Rivian, which isramping up production of its R1Tpickup nicely.
