Tesla Cybertruck Prototype's Bed Is Fairly Disappointing

TheTesla Cybertruckhas been touted as a game-changing electric pickup truck with actual workhorse capability. In short, it's being marketed as a game changer.

However, the bed - one of, if not the most critical aspect of a pickup - appears quite underwhelming based on photos of a pre-production example spied out in the open.

Facebook user Paul Yeh captured the Cybertruck's bed with a design that doesn't match up with the concept. The sidewalls appear more raked, compromising the floor area.

The integration of the rivet and bolt points is less clean than the concept, but this is a prototype, so that's something we can forgive.

The bed liner also looks conventional, which differs from the smooth surface in the concept. To be frank, the smooth surface would have been susceptible to scratches, and we much prefer the more traditional approach. The bed also has cool light strips on the sidewalls, which is a nifty feature. It's an excellent way to illuminate the bed to find what you're looking for while camping, for example.

Apart from the bed, the so-called frunk also seems to be lackluster. Based on a spy video captured from within Tesla's Texas factory a month ago, the Cybertruck has avery small frunk, limiting the front storage space. Compared to the frunk space available in the Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning, it's disappointing.
