Pricing /10 Comments

It's less than we expected.

Followingseveral rumors and teasers,2022 Subaru Outbackmade its debut sporting a new, moreoff-road capable Wilderness trimlevel. This is the most rugged Outback yet with new bumpers, a front skid plate, body cladding, all-terrain tires, and an inch taller ride height. We were excited to see Subaru show off the new Wilderness but we didn't get a price until now. The Japanese Automaker has released full pricing for the 2022 Outback (Wilderness included) as well as pricing for the2022 Subaru Legacysedan lineup.

For 2022, the Outback is offered in Base, Premium, Limited, Touring, Onyx Edition XT, Wilderness, Limited XT, and Touring XT trim levels. The Base trim starts at $26,945, just $100 more than last year's model. Pricing for the Premium starts at $29,145 (also a $100 increase), the Limited costs $33,595 (no price increase), and the Touring costs $37,495. These trims include a 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder sending 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque out to Symmetrical all-wheel-drive through a CVT.

All Outback models include a $1,125 destination and delivery fee on top of the listed MSRP.

Pricing for the Outback Onyx Edition XT remains unchanged at $35,145, making it the least expensive model to include the upgraded 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. The new Wilderness trim level costs $36,995, which is a bit surprising since we expected it to be the most expensive variant. This model builds on the Onyx Edition XT but adds more off-road capability.

The Limited XT and Touring XT trim levels each retain their prices from last year, $37,995 and $39,945, respectively. These models receive the upgrades 2.4-liter turbo engine plus more luxury features that aren't found on the Onyx Edition XT or Wilderness.

Alongside the 2022 Outback, the 2022 Legacy arrives with minimal changes. It now starts at $22,995 for the Base trim, a small $100 increase over last year's model. It now comes with 17-inch black alloy wheels as standard, previously a $350 option. The Legacy lineup includes the Premium ($25,245), Sport ($28,790), and Limited ($29,945), all of which come with the same 2.5-liter engine found in the Outback. The Limited XT ($34,495) and Touring XT ($36,195) use the 2.4-liter turbo engine.

The Legacy and Outback are assembled at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) in Lafayette, Indiana. Both should arrive at dealerships soon.
