特别版Aston Martin V12 Speedster Gets DBR1 Flavor

You can now order your topless sports car in classic livery.

Sports car manufacturers are rarely shy about pimping out their heritage to make more money in the present. Countless special edition supercars are meant to remind us of how good a brand was once or even to highlight how that brand is taking motorsport more seriously in the present. A good example is Aston Martin, a company that, five minutes after revealing its Formula 1 team colors, announced aspecial edition of the Vantagethat is supposedly F1-inspired. The British automaker isn't done with expensive, low-volume collector items yet, and has now revealed a special edition of its special-editionV12 Speedster. Available as an option to buyers of the collectors' item is now aDBR1-inspiredconfiguration that is sure to make the Speedster cooler than ever.

As is Aston's custom, no mention of the Speedster is complete without referencing the CC100 concept, a car that made our list of thegreatest speedsters everand inspired the Speedster's design. So what do you get with this DBR1 optional specification? As you'd expect, Aston Martin Racing Green is the paint finish of choice and is offset by a Clubsport White pinstripe and roundels, a Satin Silver anodized grille with a Clubsport "lipstick graphic", and diamond-turned 21-inch center-lock wheels in satin black. Aston says that the paint is particularly special, with each V12 Speedster "spending more than 50 hours in the painting process alone". But the inside of the car hasn't been neglected or left plain either.

Open the doors (or peer over them) and you'll find Conker saddle leather, satin silver brushed aluminum switchgear, carbon fiber, and Viridian Green technical textile/Caithness leather. The finish of the cabin is intended to hint at the period in which the DBR1 became an icon, while Racing Green driver and passenger helmets add that final touch of class.

Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman says, "Creating a bespoke specification that nods to the glory of the DBR1 has been a huge privilege for my team and I, and I very much look forward to seeing these cars being driven with the same enthusiasm that we have applied to their design." Sadly, it's highly unlikely that the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 under the hood will ever see enthusiastic use and will only be used to move the car into a climate-controlled garage. What a waste of 690 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque.
