Hyundai has today announced it exciting new N brand strategy.

Hyundai has made no secret regarding its performance intentions. Look no further than theHyundai Veloster N, which can now be equipped with a dual-clutch gearbox for 2021, alongside the six-speed manual. However, the Veloster N won't be the only fully-fledged N model. Hyundai has just released a couple of official teaser images for theupcoming Hyundai Elantra N, a higher performance version of the regular Elantra (not be mistaken for the recently revealed Elantra N Line).

Hyundai describes its N Line models, which also include theSonata N Lineand just-teased Tucson N Line, as "performance-oriented." Only the Veloster and, shortly, the Elantra, have received the full N treatment. So far.

The South Korean automaker has also revealed plans for seven new N and N Line models through the 2022 calendar year.

Expect to see performance "N" variants in each major vehicle category, including the sports, sedan, and SUV segments. In all, there will be three purist N models and four N Line models, and we'd be willing to bet one of them is the Kona N.

"I'm proud of what our talented N brand engineers, designers and product development teams have in store for enthusiast customers," said Olabisi Boyle, Hyundai's vice president of product planning. "Hyundai is committed to developing exciting, heart-charging N models in varied segments that reflect our passion to indulge enthusiasts. We're confident that enthusiasts will relish the agility and performance of our new N Line models."

The automaker, meanwhile, is in the midst of receiving customer feedback for the existing N brand models and will apply that knowledge for what's to come. As for the Elantra N teaser images, take note of the fixed rear spoiler, larger dual exhaust pipes, bigger wheels with red brake calipers, as well as some front end enhancements like larger air intakes.

Under the hood remains a mystery, but we can make a pretty good guess. Expect the Elantra N Line's 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder to receive a significant power boost from 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque to around 275 hp and 278 lb-ft, in line with that of the Veloster N with the Performance Pack. Expect the Elantra N to be revealed in the coming months.
