And it will focus on more than just cars.

While electric cars are all the rage right now and will continue to be on the rise for some time, it's not so long ago that the most abundant element in the universe, hydrogen, was heralded as the future savior of the automobile when fossil fuels ran out. Since it's everywhere, it still makes sense to pursue fuel cell technology. Toyota has just released anew semi-truckwith the tech, Toyota has recently launched itshydrogen-powered Mirage, andeven the Popeis propelled by the gas.现代并不落后on this technology either and has just this week announced a new fuel cell brand called HTWO.

HTWO is pronounced H2, which represents the hydrogen molecule's form when in a gas state. HTWO also stands for 'Hydrogen' and 'Humanity', which Hyundai names as the two main pillars of its new fuel cell business. The new brand represents a greater focus on fuel-cell tech for the Korean carmaker as it aims to grow its interests in hydrogen-powered vehicles. This won't just apply to cars like theHyundai Nexo.

Urban Air Mobility (UAM), "vessels", and trains will also benefit from innovations made in this sector. For now, the HTWO brand will focus on the major hub regions of Korea, the US, Europe, and China.

Hyundai says its work in hydrogen will bring "enhanced performance and durability at an affordable price in a lighter architecture with enhanced energy density." Win, win, win, then. With Hyundai a steering member of the Hydrogen Council - a global coalition of "leading energy, transportation, and industry companies with a shared vision and long-term ambition for hydrogen" - it's well-poised to bring hydrogen to the masses.

It's been a long road to getting the clean energy to market, and there's a long way to go, but with a dedicated brand focused solely on doing just that, Hyundai is once again at the forefront of innovation.
