The modernized 911 offers 500 ponies and looks good doing it.

Some of the most exquisite new cars will grace Pebble Beach's lawns next week forMonterey Car Week, and one of them is this electric-convertedPorsche 911. Sacrilege Motors will reveal its first 911 commission on the Concept Lawn on Sunday, August 20.

A battery-swapped 911 is not a new concept, but Porsche isn't making anelectric version of the nameplateanytime soon. In the meantime, tuners like Sacrilege Motors are bringing their visions to life, in this case equipping a 1992 911 America Roadster (one of 250 produced) with an electric motor sourced from aTesla Model S.

For the uninitiated, the 911 America Roadster, produced from 1992-1993, is a limited-production cabriolet variant of the 964 Carrera 2 with the body of a Turbo, intended for the North American market.

绰号“黑鸟”,三倍black 911 makes 500 horsepower and an instant 369 lb-ft of torque, paired with a single-gear transmission instead of a Tiptronic gearbox. The tuner claims the EV can go 0-60 mph in just under four seconds.

In terms of range, the model can drive for 200 miles on a single charge thanks to a 62-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Despite the weight changes, Sacrilege Motors claims the Blackbird will retain the 911's weight distribution, which is "crucial to the car feeling like a Porsche 911 should."

Other specs include two-way inverted custom Penske race shocks at the front, three-way adjustable remote-reservoir custom Penske race shocks at the rear, Brembo slotted discs, 18-inch Fiske three-piece custom forged wheels wrapped in Michelin PS2 rubber, and a limited-slip differential.

"Our passion for Porsche cars is paramount to this project," said Bobby Singh, Sacrilege Motors' president and technical lead. "We want to deliver an analog, air-cooled-era 911 with the reliability and instant power of an EV while preserving an exhilarating driving experience that's familiar to air-cooled 911 enthusiasts."

"For this commission, we set out to maintain the soul of a Porsche 911 and familiarity of its driving experience, while adding a low-maintenance, high-performance powerplant," said Sacrilege Motors CEO Phil Wagenheim. "I'm not telling anyone to give up internal combustion [...] What we are doing at Sacrilege is we're just adding an electric power option to your analog quiver of fun."

Individuals intrigued by Sacrilege Motors' entry at Pebble Beach can contact the tuner directly for their requests. The company can electro-mod Porsche 911s from various model years (1974-1994), working with partners such asPenske Racingand the UK-based Fellten - a designer and manufacturer of systems for converting classic cars into electric vehicles.
