One is for putting out fires while the other is all about surviving the zombie apocalypse.

Chevrolet has just unveiled a pair of concept Silverados at the Texas State Fair. The first modified pickup is the Silverado Volunteer Firefighter that is based on the Silverado Double Cab complete with theZ71 Off Road suspension. Riding on a set of 22" wheels, the concept is specifically designed to meet the needs of firefighters with tools such as PA system, siren, chrome fire extinguishers, and even an axe. The second concept is called the Silverado Black Ops, which was designed to be a "survival kit on four wheels."

It's equipped with a more rugged exterior design package that features lower body armor, tow 18" wheels, hooks, a winch and LED spotlights. For added convenience there are tubular side steps and extended fender flares. And if you ever find yourself caught up in the zombie apocalypse, there is also a generator, fuel and water cans, a pair of gasmasks, a folding shovel, military first aid kit and a lockable toolbox that carries a solar power pack. Both concepts are powered by a 5.3-liter V8 that's good for 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and paired to a six-speed automatic. Expect to see both concepts appear at SEMA in November as well.
